Data generated by: Olga Lositsky Contact: lositsky@princeton.edu Task: 23 subjects listened to a 25-minute (and 34-second) radio story called “Tunnel Under the World” from the radio drama series “X Minus One”. They were instructed simply to attend to the story. The story begins after 2 TRs (therefore, for the analysis we discard the first 2 TRs) and lasts for 1023 TRs (25 minutes and 34 seconds). The auditory story subjects heard is in the TunnelUnderTheWorld.wav file. Image acquisition: Participants were scanned in a 3T full-body MRI scanner (Skyra, Siemens) with a 20-channel head coil. Functional images were acquired using a T2*-weighted echo planer imaging (EPI) pulse sequence (repetition time [TR], 1500 ms; echo time [TE], 28 ms; flip angle, 64°), each volume comprising 27 slices of 4 mm thickness. In-plane resolution was 3×3 mm2 (field of view [FOV], 192×192 mm2). Slice acquisition order was interleaved. Anatomical images were acquired using a T1-weighted magnetization-prepared rapid-acquisition gradient echo (MPRAGE) pulse sequence (TR, 2300 ms; TE, 3.08 ms; flip angle 9°; 0.89 mm3 resolution; FOV, 256 mm2). Image pre-processing: FMRI data processing was carried out using FEAT (FMRI Expert Analysis Tool) Version 5.98, part of FSL (FMRIB's Software Library, www.fmrib.ox.ac.uk/fsl). The following procedure was applied: motion correction using MCFLIRT (Jenkinson, Bannister, Brady, & Smith, 2002); slice-timing correction using Fourier-space time-series phase-shifting; non-brain removal using BET (Smith, 2002); spatial smoothing using a Gaussian kernel of FWHM 6.0 mm; grand-mean intensity normalization of the entire 4D dataset by a single multiplicative factor; and high-pass temporal filtering (Gaussian-weighted least-squares straight line fitting, with sigma=240.0 s). Preprocessed data were kept in the native functional space. File Descriptions: The main project folder contains 23 subject directories, each with two files: one anatomical, and one functional. The files in each subject directory are named as follows: 1) anat/sub-${i}-coMPRAGE_brain.nii.gz #this is a skull stripped anatomical image 2) func/sub-${i}-task-listening.nii.gz #preprocessed functional data The project folder also contains auxiliary files: 1) README.txt #this README 2) TunnelUnderTheWorld.wav #the audio file which was listened to by all subjects. Note from Nate Wilson (Data Curator - email: nmwilson@princeton.edu): All identifiable information from this dataset has been removed; facial information via brain extraction, and other identifiable metadata removed from the nifty header.
